Alia has spent her entire life dreaming that she would be able to pursue her dream of being an engineer. All three are very close friends who have supported one another through the years.The day before their college admission results are released, Nikhil receives a call saying that his mother is in hospital and he needs to come home at once. His mother had undergone surgery for an undisclosed illness but her condition has started to worsen. Rohan and Alia drive him home in Rohan's car, where they meet Nikhil's father, who tells them that the woman they brought back wasn't his wife but his sister-in-law. He has discovered that his wife is having an affair with someone in the household and has sent her away to bring their relationship back together. The man she was with is actually her husband and she has returned to pursue her relationship with him. While the three boys take this news in stride, Alia becomes upset that she didn't get to speak longer with his mother, and breaks down into tears.The boys take it upon themselves to arrange for the woman to stay at their house, which Nikhil's father agrees to as long as they do not allow his sister-in-law into the house. The rest of the night is spent arranging a special lunch for Nikhil's mother and introducing her around to everyone in the household.
